I Looked at My Husband and Thought: How Is This My Life?
A short personal essay by sociologist and Forbes contributor Maia Niguel Hoskin in which an ordinary moment after a workout — looking at her husband as he did nothing unusual — produces the disorienting flash of "how is this my life?" Hoskin uses that flash as a doorway into questions about the strangeness of having ended up where we end up: the gap between the life we were taught to want and the life we actually inhabit, and what it means to choose the life you're already in.
