The Dresden Job

A GQ longform feature on the November 25, 2019 robbery of the Green Vault (Grünes Gewölbe) museum in Dresden — Augustus the Strong's 18th-century treasure chamber and one of the oldest museums in Europe. Two intruders entered through a small window, smashed display cases with an axe, and made off with three sets of 18th-century diamond jewellery (37 parts each) including the Dresden White diamond, in what was widely called the largest museum heist in modern history.
