Why Reading More Books Wasn't Making Me Smarter
Shruti Mangawa describes how she fell into the social-media reading-count game (100 books a year, Bookstagram trophies) and realized she was confusing input with understanding ā collecting concepts rather than integrating them. Her fix: slow, intentional, purpose-driven reading focused on one book at a time, rereading key chapters, writing plain-language explanations to expose what she didn't actually understand, and forcing herself to apply at least one idea for 30 days before moving on. Books don't make you smarter ā engaging with books does.
